HOUSTON – A pair of Millsaps men's and women's golf student-athletes posted top-10 performances at the Space City Classic following two days of action on Monday and Tuesday. Junior Annie Piggott placed third, while freshman Preston Severs finished ninth at Gus Wortham Park Golf Course in Texas.
The men's team finished sixth (309-305-307—921) and competed in three rounds at par 72. The women's squad placed ninth and took part in two rounds on a par-71 course in the 10-team fields.
Piggott shot a 70 to go 1-under par in Round One. She closed with an 82 to finish 10-over par and tie for third place out of 56 competitors. The Lindsay, Ontario, native had the fourth most pars (20) and fifth most birdies (four).
The third-place showing is the best of her career and earned her a spot on the 2024 Space City Classic All-Tournament Team. The junior's previous best placement was fourth on two occasions.
Completing the scoring for the women's team was junior Sophia Albasini (42nd, plus-45), junior Mallory Noble (43rd, plus-46) and sophomore Lily Moore (48th, plus-57).
On the men's side, Severs ended the three rounds of competition in a tie for ninth, securing his first collegiate top-10 showing. He carded an even performance (74-73-76) to go plus-10.
Junior Will Danielson (T-13, plus-12) and graduate Price Bryan (T-22, plus-16) both had strong showings as well and made the top 25 in the field of 52 student-athletes. Danielson had the second most birdies (11), while Severs tallied the fifth most (10).
Graduate Krtin Udith completed the Major scoring (T-43rd, plus-31) and senior Harrison Rhymes (T-47th, plus-38) also represented for Millsaps.
The women will next compete in the Hal Sutton Invitational, March 18-19, while the men will be back in action at the Wolf Pack Invitational, April 8-9.
