Majors Prepare for NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship

First Round Matchup Set with NYU at 3:30 p.m. on Friday

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The Millsaps women's basketball team has advanced to the 2024 NCAA Women's Championship and will face No. 1 New York University, which was officially announced during a selection show on Monday.
 
The Majors and Violets will square off at 3:30 p.m. CT on Friday, with site hosts DeSales University battling Southern Virginia University in the other First Round matchup to follow at 6 p.m.

Winners of both contests will face off in the Second Round, beginning at 6 p.m. CT on Saturday.

Fresh off their first Southern Athletic Association Tournament title in program history, the Majors will play in their third NCAA Women's Basketball Championship. Millsaps previously competed in the 1995 and 1996 NCAA Championships.

Millsaps is 1-2 in previous NCAA postseason play after securing a 65-57 win over Hendrix in the 1996 First Round.
 
In the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Poll released on Feb. 27, NYU is ranked No. 1, DeSales is ranked No. 12 and Millsaps is receiving votes.
