Haley Franklin Selected WBCA Honorable Mention All-American

Junior Guard Becomes Third Millsaps Women’s Basketball Player to be Named All-American

ATLANTA – Millsaps women's basketball junior guard Haley Franklin became an All-American after being recognized by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association on Wednesday. Franklin was selected a 2024 WBCA NCAA Division III Coaches' All-America honorable mention to add to her growing list of impressive accomplishments.

Franklin becomes the third student-athlete in Millsaps women's basketball program history to secure All-America honorable mention status. She joins Erin Clark (1989, 1990) and Carla Webb (1996) as past recipients of various All-America plaudits.

This season Franklin has been named to the D3hoops.com All-Region 6 First Team, selected the SAA Women's Basketball Player of the Year, SAA Tournament MVP, while also earning a spot on both the All-SAA First Team and SAA All-Tournament Team.

Additionally, the product of Baton Rouge, La., was selected to D3hoops.com Team of the Week on Dec. 19 and was the SAA Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week three times as a junior.

She broke her own Millsaps single-season scoring record with 526 points in 28 total games. Franklin also led the conference in scoring (18.8 ppg), points, field goals (187) and free-throw makes (146).

Millsaps netted the wins in program history with 24 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1996 on the heels of the program's first-ever conference postseason title. The Majors also tallied their seventh regular-season conference title and finished an unblemished 16-0 inside the Hangar Dome.

Transylvania University head coach Juli Fulks is the 2024 WBCA NCAA Division III Coach of the Year, while Natalie Bruns of New York University is the 2024 WBCA NCAA Division III Player of the Year. The Majors faced No. 1 nationally ranked and eventual national champion NYU in the NCAA Championship First Round.

The WBCA presents the Player of the Year award annually to the top player in five of the six WBCA membership divisions (NCAA Divisions II, and III, NAIA, two-year college and high school).

The WBCA Coaches' All-America program honors the 10 best women's or girls' basketball players on each membership level (NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA, two-year college and high school) as determined by member coaches each year. The WBCA NCAA DI Coaches' All-America Team is announced and recognized during the WBCA National Convention each year. WBCA Coaches' All-America Teams in the other membership divisions are announced at or near the end of the season.

All academically eligible college women's basketball players whose head coaches are WBCA members are eligible.
