BOSSIER CITY, La. – The tremendous 2023-24 season continued for Millsaps women's golf junior
Annie Piggott as she claimed victory at the 2024 Hal Sutton Invitational on Tuesday.
She cleared the field of 39 competitors by four strokes, finishing 11-over after two rounds and closed with an event best three-over 75 in Round Two. Piggott tied for first with a Round One eight-over 80 on Monday and left the competition behind from there on Tuesday.
The Lindsay, Ontario product becomes the first Millsaps women's golfer to claim an event win since March 2013, when
Lauren Durbin won at the same Hal Sutton Invitational.
Piggott has already been named a program-best SAA Women's Golfer of the Week three times this season and now owns a trio of top-five performances.
The junior competed alongside classmates
Mallory Noble and
Sophia Albasini at the Golf Club at StoneBridge.
Noble finished a career-best in 12th position with a score of 96-85—181 to card 37-over. The Round Two 85 was the best collegiate round for the Belle Chase, La., native.
Albasini placed 20th after shooting two rounds at 102-86—188 at 44-over.
The Millsaps women's golf team will compete once more before the SAA Golf Championships in late April.
