JACKSON, Miss. – The Millsaps women's tennis program began Southern Athletic Association play in thrilling fashion with a 5-4 victory over Birmingham-Southern at the Coach Montgomery Courts on Saturday. The men's team were bested by the Panthers, 8-1.

Millsaps next will travel to New Albany, Miss. and face Blue Mountain Christian University, beginning at noon on Friday, March 29.


Women's Recap vs. Birmingham-Southern, 5-4, W 

Senior Madison Williams and graduate Camille Fremaux proved victorious in doubles on Court 2 by an 8-3 score. BSC claimed a 2-1 lead with narrow 8-6 and 8-7 wins on Courts 1 and 3, respectively.

In singles, Courts 1 through 4 provided the lift the Majors needed to claim the Saturday triumph. Fremaux controlled Court 1, 6-3, 6-3, while Williams secured Court 2, 6-4, 6-1.

Senior Kiana Everhart looked poised on Court 3 with a 6-3, 6-1 decision and junior Mary Dabadie combined for the match-clinching, fifth point with a 6-4, 6-1 winner on Court 4. Juniors Mackenzie Vordick and Segen Lister came up just short on Courts 5 and 6.

Men's Recap vs. Birmingham-Southern, 8-1, L

Sophomores Sam Tuli and Carson Chassaignac secured the lone victory on Court 1 doubles for the Millsaps men's squad. The duo earned an 8-5 decision, while senior Jakub Bobinski and junior Anderson Dulaney fell by the same count on Court 2.

BSC bested all six singles courts. The closest matchup up saw junior Sam Willard fight to a tiebreaker. Willard won the first set 6-3, was bested 6-1 in the second before coming up just short, 10-7 in the breaker.
