NEW ALBANY, Miss. – The Millsaps men's and women's tennis programs were bested by NAIA foe Blue Mountain Christian University at the BNA Bank Tennis Complex on Friday. The women came up just short by a 5-2 count, while the men fell, 6-1.

Millsaps is back in action on Saturday, April 6 in Danville, Ky. The men battle Centre at 8 a.m. CT and the women will face the Colonels at 10 a.m. CT.


Women's Recap at Blue Mountain, 5-2, L 

Senior Madison Williams and graduate Camille Fremaux fought to a tiebreaker on Court 2 doubles. The duo played well, falling 8-7 (7-2).

Senior Kiana Everhart and junior Mary Dabadie were bested, 8-3 on Court 1, but juniors Mackenzie Vordick and Segen Lister were victorious courtesy of a forfeit. Playing with NAIA rules, doubles counted as one point allowing the Toppers to take a 1-0 lead.

Leading 5-1 in set one, Williams claimed a singles victory on Court 2 via retirement. Lister triumphed on Court 6 because of lack of an opponent, which resulted in a second forfeit.

Fremaux (Court 1), Everhart (Court 3), Dabadie (Court 4) and Vordick (Court 5) all lost in two sets, but posted at least one set of 6-2 or closer in defeat. Everhart narrowly lost, 6-2, 6-4 and Vordick posted identical 6-3 decisions in the loss.

Men's Recap at Blue Mountain, 6-1, L

The men's squad jumped out to a 1-0 lead following two wins in doubles. Sophomores Sam Tuli and Carson Chassaignac were victorious, 8-5 on Court 1, while senior Jakub Bobinski and junior Anderson Dulaney took down the Toppers, 8-6 on Court 2.

Blue Mountain claimed all six singles matches, but three matches went to narrow tiebreakers. Chassaignac was edged, 10-8 on Court 1, Dulaney fell, 15-13 in an epic breaker on Court 2, while Bobinski was surpassed, 10-7 on Court 3.
