Women’s Tennis Sweeps Weekend, Men's Tennis Downs Maryville

Majors Win Three Matches 7-2 or Better, Defend Home Court

JACKSON, Miss. – The Millsaps men's and women's tennis programs were ready to defend home court over the weekend, securing wins in three out of four matches. Women's tennis swept Copiah Lincoln (8-1) and Maryville (9-0), while the men's team narrowly lost to Copiah-Lincoln (6-3) before triumphing over Maryville (7-2) at the Coach Montgomery Courts on Sunday.

The Majors will return to action on Saturday, March 23 facing Birmingham-Southern at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. at the Coach Montgomery Courts in Jackson, Miss.


Women's Recap vs. Copiah-Lincoln, 8-1, W 

On Saturday in an 8-1 win in doubles, junior
Mary Dabadie and classmate Kiana Everhart defeated their opponents 8-4 on Court One, while senior Madison Williams and graduate Camille Fremaux took down their collegiate opponents, 8-3 on Court Two. 

The
Majors would sweep through singles as Fremaux owned Court One, 6-3, 6-2 and Williams surpassed her opponent, 6-3, 6-1 on Court Two. 

Everhart would outplay her foe in comeback fashion, 2-6, 6-4 and 1-0 (10-4) on Court Three, while junior Mackenzie Vordick would also respond on Court Five, 5-7, 6-1, and 1-0 (10-4).

Dabadie made quick work of her challenger, 6-1, 6-0 on Court Three and Lister succeeded on Court Six, 6-3, 6-0.

The Millsaps men's tennis team gave everything they had, but fell short against Copiah-Lincoln, 6-3 in a close match on Saturday.

Sophomores Sam Tuli and Carson Chassaignac gave the Wolves a close match, narrowly falling 8-6 on Court One doubles.

Senior
Jakub Bobinski and junior Anderson Dulaney dominated their opposition, 8-1 on Court Two, while juniors Brady St. Martin and Sam Willard stopped their opponents in an epic matchup, 9-7.
 
Sophomore Sam Tuli claimed the lone singles triumph, 6-3, 6-1 on Court Four. The Wolves would take Courts One, Two and Five in two sets.

Bobinksi (6-4, 3-6, 1-0) and Willard (3-6, 7-5, 1-0) both fought but barely lost 10-6 tiebreakers.

Millsaps women's tennis shut down Maryville, 9-0 on Sunday.

Everhart battled for a strong 8-6 win on Court One.
Williams and Fremaux stormed past their opponents, 8-2 on Court Two. Vordick and Lister also beat their contenders, 8-4 for the doubles sweep. 

In singles, Fremaux
, Everhart, Dabadie, Vordick and Lister were dominant claiming each set 6-0 or 6-1. Williams fought back in the closest match of the afternoon, 3-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-7) in an epic tiebreaker on Court Two.

Men's Recap vs. Maryville, 7-2, W

The Millsaps men's tennis team came back strong against Maryville sweeping through doubles and claiming four courts of singles on Sunday.
 
Tuli and Chassaignac as well as Bobinski and Dulaney both looked impressive with 8-1 doubles winners on Courts One and Two, respectively.

St. Martin Willard completed the doubles dominance with an 8-3 winner on Court 3.

In singles, Dulaney (6-2, 6-0), Bobinski (6-2, 6-3), Tuli (6-0, 6-0) and Willard (6-0, 6-0) excelled. St. Martin fought tough in a 3-6, 6-2 and 1-0 (10-7) tiebreaker on Court Five.
