JACKSON, Miss. — The Millsaps College volleyball team fought back to down Oglethorpe University in a thrilling five-set match at the Hangar Dome during Senior Day on Sunday, winning 25-15, 23-25, 18-25, 26-24, 15-11.
This match was part of a challenging schedule for the Majors, marking their third conference match in just four days.

Ally Baer,
Olivia Danos,
Trista Naquin and
Mallory Richardson were recognized pregame. The Majors secured the victory with a decisive fifth set after falling behind, 2-1 and with a late fourth-set surge. Despite the Stormy Petrels' 11 service aces, Millsaps' defensive effort, marked by 92 digs, helped turn the tide in their favor.
Millsaps improved to 14-10 overall and a 3-6 in Southern Athletic Association play. Oglethorpe fell to 6-16 overall and 0-9 in conference competition.
Baer led Millsaps with 17 kills, six digs and added two service aces, accumulating 19.5 points. Junior
Sandy Bourgeois played a key defensive role by collecting a season-high 30 digs.
Freshman
Rachel Zamjahn facilitated the offense with a career-best 42 assists, contributing significantly to the team's playmaking. Richardson added a season-high 13 kills, enhancing the team's attacking efforts. Junior
Amelia Bohl added eight kills, six digs and two aces.
The first set began with Millsaps taking an early lead as Bohl's kill, assisted by Danos, initiated the scoring. The Majors capitalized on the Stormy Petrels' attack errors, extending their lead to 9-5.
Baer's effective hitting, combined with strong serving from Bourgeois, helped Millsaps maintain momentum. The set concluded with a service error from Oglethorpe's Laney Higgins, securing a 25-15 victory for the home team.
Oglethorpe emerged victorious in the second set, narrowly defeating Millsaps 25-23. The set was marked by a series of exchanges, with the Stormy Petrels initially pulling ahead 4-1, thanks to an ace.
The Majors responded with key plays from Richardson, closing the gap back at 6-6. Oglethorpe regained momentum with a 6-2 run. Millsaps fought back to tie the set at 14-14 and 22-22, but Oglethorpe secured the win with two final kills.
The visitors secured a third-set victory over Millsaps with a strong performance, winning 25-18. Holding a narrow 14-12 advantage, the Stormy Petrels used a 6-1 burst to push forward and take a lead in the match.
Oglethorpe started the fourth set strong with a 3-0 lead. Millsaps responded with a four-point run, including kills from Baer and Bohl, to take a 4-3 lead.
The Stormy Petrels regained momentum with Hughes contributing consecutive kills, extending their lead to 7-5. As the set progressed, the Majors battled back to tie the score at 17-17 with a crucial block by Zamjahn and Baer.

In the decisive fifth set, Millsaps seized an early advantage with a service ace from Bohl, contributing to a 3-0 run. Down 7-2, Oglethorpe responded with a series of kills to take a 9-8 advantage.
The Majors regained control with a string of points, including consecutive kills by Baer, pushing their lead to 14-11. The match concluded with a pivotal Husby kill and Oglethorpe attack error by George, sealing a 15-11 victory for Millsaps.
