JACKSON, Miss. – The Millsaps women's basketball squad is pumped up and eager for the 2025-26 season as they look to go after their third consecutive SAA regular-season title and push for postseason success.
Earlier this year, the Millsaps College Department of Athletics announced Jeff Wilbur as their new head coach alongside assistant Ciara Jackson. Both coaches are focused on continuing the Majors' winning mentality in their leadership role.
The Majors have assembled an 18-member roster of student-athletes for the upcoming season, with six freshmen joining the squad and 12 veterans returning as they prepare for a competitive schedule of 26 regular-season contests.
Millsaps women's basketball, looking to build off last season's dominance, achieved a 22-5 overall record and 10-2 mark in Southern Athletic Association play.
The Majors dominant performance led them to first place in the conference regular season and honor of hosting the SAA Women's Basketball Championship. Millsaps topped several statistical categories with 1,941 total points and 1,099 combined team rebounds, demonstrating their strong offensive and defensive capabilities throughout the season.
Junior Garin Freeman is set to return for another competitive season following an outstanding sophomore year that earned her multiple basketball honors. Freeman was named the 2024-25 SAA Women's Basketball Defensive Athlete of the Year and earned a spot on the All-SAA First Team.
Her achievements also included recognition on the 2024-25 D3hoops.com All-Region Third Team and earning a spot on the 2025 SAA Women's Basketball All-Tournament Team.
Freeman had an outstanding offensive season, leading the conference in free throws with 169 attempts, while ranking among the top players in multiple scoring categories.
Achieving notable statistical performances, Freeman accumulated 376 total points which placed her sixth overall, while maintaining a 13.9 points per game average that ranked seventh.
Her offensive contribution included 109 successful field goals, earning her a seventh-place ranking in that category as well.
Freeman dominated defensively on the court, recording a conference-leading 61 total steals, averaging an impressive 2.3 steals per game.
Last season, Freeman started in all 27 games for the Majors and set an SAA record with 20 free throw makes, where she helped the Majors beat Centenary College, 64-52 on Dec 13.
Senior Elyse Warren is another key veteran leader returning to the Majors squad with high-performance expectations.
Last year, Warren was named to the All-SAA Second Team for her second consecutive season, while being named SAA Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week twice. Warren also was All-SAA Honorable Mention as a freshman.
During the previous season, Warren erupted with 12 double-doubles. She also finished second in the conference with 271 total rebounds and 10.0 rebounds per game.
She achieved strong statistical performance across multiple categories, ranking fifth in blocks with four totals, third in scoring with 10.8 points per game, and seventh in steals with 15.
Last season Warren appeared in all 27 games and totaled 291 points, which was third among her teammates. Warren has accumulated 740 total rebounds and 821 points during her career as a Major.
Junior Tia Anderson, a skilled three-point shooter, is expected to help keep the Majors' winning ways alive after a strong sophomore campaign.
Anderson earned All-SAA Honorable Mention honors and has established herself as threat from beyond the perimeter.
During the 2024-25 season, Anderson was exceptional from outside the arc, ranking third in the conference with 46 successful three-point shots, while maintaining an average of 1.7 three-pointers per game. Anderson also ranked 16th in the conference and fourth amongst the Majors with 28 total steals.
Senior Lexus Keyes made an immediate impact for the Majors after transferring and has the potential to earn all-conference recognition following a season in which she took part in 23 games.
Keyes demonstrated strong performance across multiple statistical categories, shooting an impressive 86.5 percent from the free-throw line by making 32-of-37 attempts.
She contributed on the boards with 39 total rebounds and facilitated her team's offense with 18 assists.
Keyes ranked sixth among the Majors with 17 total steals, showcasing her well-rounded contributions to the Majors' success.
Maddy Maw, a senior guard, finished last season with 28 points, eight three-pointers and seven rebounds over 17 game appearances, establishing herself as one of the key contributors to the team.
The team roster includes returning veteran notables from multiple class levels, with sophomores Ashlyn Hafley, Dove Leach, Anya Lewis and Molly Northam, juniors Mya Richardson and Bailey Johnson and senior Rachel Pflum.
The Majors have also strengthened their lineup by adding six freshman players in Tajha Bell, Jakayla Booth, Ana Cerniglia, Kiayalee King, Juliana McKinney and Zyon Moffite.
