SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Millsaps baseball team continued its stance atop the conference standings after taking two of three games against Sewanee at Montgomery Field, Friday and Saturday. Millsaps (19-7, 6-3 SAA) claimed Game One, 14-2 and Game Three, 11-6 – both in seven innings, while Sewanee (15-11, 2-7 SAA) captured Game Two, 7-4.
Game 1: Millsaps 14, Sewanee 2 (7 inn), W
The Majors generated a season-high 15 hits with four homers and put the run rule into effect in Game One on Friday.
Senior Gray Berry went 3-for-4 while contesting four runs, three RBIs, a double and was hit by a pitch. The West Point, Miss., native also recorded his fifth homer of the season.

Evan Scott had a dominant performance, batting 3-for-3 with one run, an RBI, and a walk against the Tigers.
Junior EJ Ousley claimed his first homer of the season, collecting two RBIs, a run and a walk.
Sixth year Branyan Bounds (two RBIs, run) and senior Bradley Pelle (three RBIs, run, walk) also homered.
Graduate David Abbadessa batted 2-for-3 while registering two runs, a double and an RBI. Classmate Case Page went 2-for-4, while fellow grad Jackson Ware (two runs, double, walk) and senior Zac Farris (run) reached via a hit.

Nick Tarantino pitched all seven abbreviated innings on the mound where he struck out seven batters, while only allowing two runs and one walk
against seven hits.
In the top of the first inning, Scott singled through the left side to start the Majors off in the right direction.
With the bases loaded, Ousley grounded into a double play but pushed Berry toward home plate to give Millsaps a 1-0 lead.
Bounds followed by blasting a two-run homer outside Montgomery Field's fence to move the squad ahead, 3-0 in the top of the second inning.
With runners on the corners, Pelle saw his opportunity and recorded a three-run homer to top the Tigers, 6-0 in the same inning.
Millsaps continued its scoring barrage with four more runs in the fourth frame and keep their team momentum at large.
Abbadessa led the inning off with a single to right field. Berry proceeded with a double to left center to move Abbadessa home and further the Majors' advantage to 7-0.
Scott then singled to first base, allowing Berry reached home. Not stopping there, Ousley responded with a two-run homer to center field to shut down the Tigers, 10-0.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Sewanee got on the scoreboard with a double, single and RBI ground out.
However, Millsaps continued attacking the Tigers in the top of the fifth inning. Abbadessa cracked a double to left center to bring Ware home and make it 11-1.
After a powerful hit by Abbadessa, the Spring Hill, Fla., native later scored on a wild pitch to score the 12th run.
Down by a huge deficit, Sewanee added a run in the sixth inning with a pair of singles and a walk sandwiched in between.
Berry answered by soaring a two-run homer over the left-field wall in the top of the seventh to complete the scoring at 14-2.
After the Tigers opened in bottom of the inning with a single, Tarantino silenced the Tigers with three consecutive strikeouts.
Game 2: Sewanee 7, Millsaps 4, L
The Tigers built an early advantage and were able to hold off a late Millsaps rally in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday.
Ousley (RBI), Bounds (run, double) and junior Mason Morgan (run) all batted 2-for-4 in the defeat.
Freshman Fred Fields finished the final five innings, allowing just one earned run, two walks and four hits. He struck out one batter in relief.
In the bottom of the first inning, Sewanee attacked the Majors with a solo homer to take an early 1-0 lead.
The Tigers responded with back-to-back homers in the following frame to build a 3-0 cushion.
Consecutive sacrifice flies moved the Tigers further ahead in the third inning.
In the bottom of the fourth frame, the Tigers made it 6-0 with another sacrifice fly.
Millsaps responded in the top of the fifth with three singles by Morgan, Bounds and Abbadessa. The last hit by Abbadessa plated Morgan to put the Majors on the scoreboard.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Tigers put up one run off a hit, walk and ground out to extend their lead to 7-1.
Looking to make a comeback, Berry led the top of the eighth with a single and Scott reached with a hit by pitch. Moments later, Ousley singled through the right side to score Berry.
Page then reached on a fielder's choice and Scott advanced to third and scored on a throwing error to cut the deficit to 7-3.
In the top of the ninth inning, Bounds led the Majors off with a double to center field.
Junior Sam Thomas came into the contest as a pinch hitter and reached first base on a throwing error, moving Bounds to third.
A wild pitch brought Bounds in to score, but a double play and fly out ended Game Two, 7-4 in favor of the Tigers.
Game 3: Millsaps 11, Sewanee 6 (7 inn), W
Berry came alive for a career-high four hits (4-for-5) and tied a personal best of four RBIs as a Major. He homered, added a double, scored twice and stole a base.
Both Bounds (2-for-3, home run, three RBIs, three runs, walk) and Ware (2-for-3, run, double) registered a pair of hits.
Freshman John Montour stepped in with 1.1 innings of relief to improve his record to 3-0. He held Sewanee scoreless with no walks and just one hit against.
Sewanee's second batter opened the game with a solo home run to take a 1-0 lead.
However in the top of the second inning, Millsaps returned the favor as Page led the inning off with a single to center field. Bounds then blasted a two-run homer down the left-field line to put the Majors on top, 2-1.
Sewanee regained a 3-2 advantage in the bottom of the second by scoring on a double play and following with another solo home run.
The score would remain unchanged until the top of the fifth inning when Berry revisited the batter's box and crushed a homer out to right center, tying the contest at 3-3.
Sewanee continued the home run derby with a two-run homer to recover and take back the lead at 5-3.
In the top of the sixth inning, Millsaps regained their confidence with a five-run output.
Ousley opened the inning with a hit by a pitch and stole second before Page walked.
Bounds then singled to left field to bring Ousley home to cut the deficit down to 5-4.
With batters later and with the bases loaded, Abbadessa reached on a fielder's choice to allow Page access to home base and the contest for the third time at 5-5.
Millsaps continued to apply pressure when a Berry single down the right-field line scored Bounds to give Millsaps back their edge at 6-5 in the back-and-forth battle.
Pelle later stepped in and doubled to left center to score both Abbadessa and Berry and conclude the sixth-inning onslaught.
The Majors added three more tallies in the top of the seventh inning. Ousley led the inning off with a single to center field and scored on a wild pitch to better the Tigers, 9-5.
Playing outstanding all series, Berry further downed Sewanee on the scoreboard with a single up the middle to plate both Ware and Bounds.
Graduate Jackson Hood recorded the final three outs for the Majors in the seventh, preserving an 11-5 win in Game Three on Saturday.
