Baseball Slips to Huntingdon on Saturday

Majors Fall in Tough Loss to Hawks, 11-0 in Firehouse Classic

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Millsaps baseball team fought hard on the diamond but was bettered by Huntingdon, 11-0 in seven innings in the Firehouse Classic at Neal Posey Field on Saturday. 
 
Junior Layne Cross batted 1-for-1 and was hit by a pitch against the Hawks. 
 
Huntingdon pitcher Parker Szush was fantastic on the day, recording 12 strikeouts to slow down the Majors. Seniors Gray Berry and Evan Scott were also hit by a pitch to reach base.  
 
Freshman Luke Hamblen pitched one scoreless inning on the mound. The Cordova, Tenn., native struck out one batter, while allowing zero hits and one walk. 

Huntingdon took an 8-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning. The Hawks added three more runs in the bottom of the fifth to expand their advantage to 11-0.  

Huntingdon put the game away in the bottom of the seventh inning with the run-rule put into effect on Saturday. 
 
The Majors will conclude their stay in the Firehouse Classic against Brevard College on Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m. with live video and live stats available at gomajors.com.
