Abigail Cerwick, Annie Piggott Named WGCA All-American Scholars

Duo Becomes First to Earn Honor in Program History

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Millsaps women's golf duo freshman Abigail Cerwick and senior Annie Piggott made history by becoming the first to be named to the Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team on Monday.

The pair earned spots on the 2024-25 All-American Scholar Team as part of 1,499 women's collegiate golfers across 403 programs at the NCAA Division I, II and III levels.
 
Student-athletes must have met the following criteria to earn the prestigious recognition:
  • Have an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher.
  • Be an amateur and on the team's roster through the conclusion of the team's season.
  • Have played in 50% of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year nominated through the team's conference championship.
Cerwick was named the Southern Athletic Association Women's Golf Newcomer of the Year after a standout first season on the green on in the classroom in Jackson.

She posted three top-10 finishes, including a second-place showing in a dual match win over MUW on April 17. Cerwick also placed sixth at the 2024 Crusader Cup in October as well as seventh at the Hal Sutton Invitational in mid-March.

Her two-round scores were extremely consistent. In six of eight competitions, her scores ranged between plus-19 and plus-24.
 
She also was named to Club 40 twice in her rookie campaign with two perfect 4.0 GPAs.

Majoring in biology, Piggott completed her undergraduate degree with a 3.67 GPA. 
 
The Lindsey, Ontario, was awarded WGCA All-Region Honors after finishing the 2024-25 season with a first-place finish at the Southern Athletic Association Women's Golf Championship on April 27.
 
During her senior campaign, Piggott claimed five individual triumphs, a runner-up showing and a third-place performance. 
 
Piggott is also a two-time member of the CSC Academic All-District® Women's At-Large Team and made the SAA Winter/Spring All-Sportsmanship Team on four occasions. 
 
Piggott concluded her collegiate career with SAA Women's Golf Athlete of the Week honors and two All-SAA First Team accolades. 
 
She also made Club 40 and made appearances on both the President's and Dean's Lists.
