Men’s Soccer's Second-Half Comeback Earns Draw at LeTourneau

Myles Walden Nets Two Goals in 2-2 Matchup on Saturday

LONGVIEW, Texas The Millsaps men's soccer team's second-half resilience drew a 2-2 draw against LeTourneau University at the Joyce Family Athletic Village on Saturday.

Freshman Myles Walden scored a pair of goals, helping the Majors secure a 2-2 draw against the Yellowjackets. Walden also recorded three shots, including two on goal.

Sophomore Ellis Dykes registered two assists and one shot on goal. Freshman Raul Blandon and sophomore Harrison Williams each recorded two shot tries and one shot on goal.

Senior goalkeeper Michael Hamauei added one save against the Yellowjackets.

LeTourneau took an early lead with two first-half goals, but Millsaps responded with a pair of second-half goals to level the match.

Both teams' defenses held firm in the closing minutes, resulting in a tense finish. Millsaps recorded 11 shots, with 5 on target, while LeTourneau had nine shots, with three on target.

The first half began with Millsaps applying early pressure, as Williams and Walters each attempted shots in the opening minutes.

Despite the aggressive start, LeTourneau struck first with a goal in the 21st minute of the contest with a long shot from distance.

Letourneau scored again in the 29th minute, with a low shot to the left post.

Millsaps continued to seek opportunities, but their efforts were pushed away concluding the half with a two-goal deficit.

The second half began with Millsaps trailing but quickly turned into a comeback effort highlighted by Walden's performances.

Walden found the back of the net twice, first in the 65th minute and again in the 85th, with both goals assisted by Dykes, leveling the match at 2-2.

Despite a yellow card on Walden shortly after his equalizer, Millsaps applied pressure until the final whistle.

A late attempt by Dykes that was saved by the Yellowjackets goalkeeper, ensuring a tense, hard-fought draw.
