Men's Soccer Falls in Season Finale to Trinity

Tigers Stop Majors, 3-0 in Playoff Hunt on Sunday

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Millsaps College men's soccer team concluded its 2026 season with a 3-0 loss to Trinity University on Sunday at Paul McGinlay Soccer Field.

The Majors entered the contest battling for one of six Southern Athletic Association playoff spots, but the defeated coupled with a Sewanee victory pushed the Majors into the No. 7 position.

Millsaps finished the season having allowed 18 goals, which sets a program record. The previous best low was 20 established by the Majors in 1986. Additionally, the Majors tallied eight shutouts providing stellar defense, ranking second all-time in a season in school history.

Junior Alden Davenport played all 90 minutes in goal, facing 18 shots and made two saves. Classmate Ellis Dykes led Millsaps with two shot attempts, while sophomore Daniel Lee and Raul Blandon each recorded a shot on target.

Millsaps kept Trinity off the board in the first half, limiting the Tigers to six shots and one corner kick. Between the 26th and 36th minutes, Trinity recorded three shots and a corner kick but was unable to find the back of the net. Earlier, the Majors generated opportunities through freshman Zachary Diamond and Blandon, whose shot in the 19th minute was saved by Trinity's goalkeeper.

Trinity broke the scoreless tie in the 50th minute on a goal by Luke Mayfield. Millsaps responded with three shots, including two from Dykes and one from Reid Brenner. Lee put a shot on goal in the 65th minute, but Trinity's goalkeeper made the save. The Tigers added goals in the 72nd and 90th minutes to secure the 3-0 victory.

The Tigers held an 11-4 advantage in second-half shots and put five attempts on frame. The Majors recorded 11 fouls and were part of a physical contest that featured eight yellow cards.

The Majors will now await the announcement of the all-conference selections, which will be released next week.
