Men's Tennis Bettered by Christian Brothers, Northwest Mississippi

Majors Tally Individual Wins in Narrow Defeats over Weekend

MEMPHIS, Tenn. & SENATOBIA, Miss. – The Millsaps College men's tennis team put up a couple strong efforts, but fell just short to Christian Brothers University (5-2) and Northwest Mississippi Community College (5-3) over the weekend.

Both teams will return home to host Belhaven University on Saturday, Feb. 28 as well as MUW on Sunday, March 1.

Men's Recap vs. Christian Brothers University, 5-2, L
The Majors were able to secure two singles wins to open up their weekend at Christian Brothers on Saturday.

Senior Sam Tuli and gave the Majors their first point with a 6-3, 6-2 win, while sophomore Sebastian Gonzalez added to that tally with a 6-2, 7-6 (11-9) win in the second-set tiebreaker.

Men's Recap vs. Northwest CC, 5-3, L

The Majors were able to secure three singles wins to close strong in a narrow 5-3 defeat at No. 17 NJCAA-ranked Northwest Mississippi Community College on Sunday.

After starting off 0-3 in doubles, the Majors did get three wins to bounce back in singles play. Freshman Anderson Causey got the Majors going with a third-set tiebreaker win (6-7 (6-8), 6-3, 1-0 (11-9). Tuli continued his dominant start to the season with a two-set win (6-0, 6-2) to finish his weekend 2-0 in singles. Lastly, freshman Bradley Schiaffino also earned his victory in a third tiebreaker set (6-1, 5-7, 1-0 (10-6)).
