Men's and Women's Tennis Dominates Belhaven, MUW

Majors Combined for Four Weekend Wins

JACKSON, Miss. — The Millsaps College men's and women's tennis teams had an extremely strong weekend each downing Belhaven and MUW in a pair of matches on Saturday and Sunday at the Coach Montgomery Courts.

Women's Recap vs. Belhaven University, 7-0, W

The Majors women's tennis team put on a show this weekend which started with complete domination in the Riverside Rivalry.

They were able to go 3-0 on the doubles courts, where the doubles tandem of Malakie Smith and Skylar Spinks took the biggest victory, winning 6-2.

The Majors swiftly took care of Belhaven in singles, where the Blazers were unable to win a single set in any singles match. Most notably, Riley McClain did not drop a single match in her singles game, where she won 6-0, 6-0

Men's Recap vs. Belhaven University, 5-2, W

Millsaps men's tennis started their weekend off with a bang, that bang being a 5-2 win in the Riverside Rivalry.

In doubles, The Majors were quite comfortable, most comfortable being the team of Sam Tuli and Cooper Payne, who won their first match 6-2.

Then, in singles the Majors were able to take 4 out of 6 singles matches. Jon Nguyen made it look easy, winning his game 6-1, 6-0. Meanwhile on the 1's court, Anderson Causey earns a very tough, but very needed victory in an extra third set.

Women's Recap vs. MUW, 7-0, W

The Majors women's tennis team finished this weekend on a high note with another 7-0 sweep this time against MUW.

The Majors once again went 3-0 in doubles to secure the doubles point, with the biggest win coming from Alexis Oliver and Riley McClain, who won 6-2.

To follow that up, the Majors seemed to increase that intensity. In singles, Millsaps won 72 games to compare to MUW's 11, which saw the Majors win every singles game. Malakie Smith and Skylar Spinks only dropped one game, while Riley McClain once again went a perfect 6-0, 6-0.

Men's Recap vs. MUW, 4-3, W

The Majors finished out their weekend with a closely contested win over MUW where they won 4-3.

The Majors continued their dominance in doubles, going 3-0 both yesterday and today which gained them a very important doubles point. That performance was capped off by a 6-1 win by the SAA doubles players of the week Sebastian Gonzalez and Brennan Pierce.

Then in singles, the Majors had to go back and forth with the Owls, where they eventually split the singles 3-3. Not stressing though was Sam Tuli, who swiftly took care of his opponent 6-2, 6-2.
