SEWANEE, Tenn. — The Millsaps College baseball team had its hands full facing Sewanee in a three-game series over the weekend. The Majors fell to the Tigers in the first game, 6–3, before rallying to secure a 6–5 victory in the second game but ultimately lost the final game, 16–5, at Montgomery Field.

Game One: Sewanee 6, Millsaps 3

Senior Andrew Bradley pitched 4.0 innings for Millsaps, allowing one run while striking out one batter. Classmate Ryan Laiche closed with 1.2 innings on the hill, recording one strikeout.

Freshman Hudson Moberly had a standout performance, hitting a home run and collecting two RBIs, while junior Wesley Grant added a double and scored a run to his play.

In the first game, Millsaps led early but could not withstand a four-run seventh inning by the Tigers, which ultimately secured the victory for Sewanee. The Majors gained an early advantage in the second inning when Moberly homered to left field, giving Millsaps a 1-0 lead. The score remained in Millsaps' favor through the third inning, with no runs added by either team.

The fourth inning saw senior Sam Thomas double, followed by Moberly driving him in with a single down the left field line, extending the lead to 2-0. Sewanee responded in the bottom half from a triple and scored on a single, narrowing the gap to 2-1.

Millsaps capitalized on a throwing error in the fifth inning, allowing Grant to advance to third. sophomore Carston Williams then hit a sacrifice fly to bring Grant home, increasing the lead to 3-1.

However, Sewanee closed the gap in the sixth inning with a sacrifice fly, making the score 3-2. In the decisive seventh inning, Sewanee surged ahead with four runs, including a two-RBI single and a bases-loaded walk, pushing their lead to 6-3. The Tigers secured their lead to take down the Majors in Game One.

Game Two: Millsaps 6, Sewanee 5

Grant led Millsaps with four RBIs, including a home run, showcasing his impact. Senior Mason Morgan contributed significantly with two hits, one RBI, and a run, while Williams added two hits, maintaining consistent pressure on the defense.

On the mound for the Majors, sophomore John Montour pitched 4.0 innings, allowing two hits, zero runs, and one strikeout to earn the win in Game Two.

In the second game, Millsaps rallied to defeat Sewanee by a score of 6–5. The Tigers opened the scoring in the first inning when a batter singled, advanced to second on a fielding error, and later scored on an unearned run to take an early 1–0 lead.

The home team extended its lead in the second inning with an RBI single, taking a 2–0 advantage by the end of the inning.

Sewanee added three runs in the third inning, making it 5–0. However, the Majors began their comeback in the fourth when Morgan singled, and Grant hit a two-run homer, cutting the deficit to 5–2. Millsaps continued to close the gap in the sixth inning when sophomore Wes Carr scored on a sacrifice fly by Grant, bringing the score to 5–3.

The seventh inning proved pivotal as Millsaps took control. Freshman Connor Schell scored on a throwing error, followed by RBIs from Morgan and another sacrifice fly by Grant, allowing the Majors to take the lead at 6–5. The game concluded with Millsaps securing the victory.

In the top of the third, sophomore Kyle Veal Jr. singled to the Tigers' shortstop before Cross walked, moving Veal Jr. to second base and helping the Majors start Game Three on a strong note.

Moments later, Cross stole second while Veal Jr. stole third, giving the Majors' offense some spark.

In the bottom of the inning, Millsaps challenged the Tigers on an 8-6-3 double play to stop the Tigers' momentum.

Sewanee erupted for seven runs in the fourth, highlighted by three home runs. Williams finally got the Majors on board in the top of the fifth with a single to right center to score Veal, Jr.

In the bottom of the fifth, Sewanee took a 13-1 lead. Millsaps managed to score in the fifth and sixth innings with contributions from Williams and Kretzer.
