DAPHNE, Ala. — The Millsaps men's soccer team continued its defensive prowess to open the season, securing a second consecutive 0-0 draw on the Gulf Coast. Sophomore
Edward Steinwand tallied three saves as the Majors blanked the United States Sports University at Fairhope Soccer Complex on Sunday.
Steinwand tallied nine saves combined over the weekend with Millsaps tying Pensacola Christian, 0-0 two days prior. He becomes the first Major since 2017 to post back-to-back clean sheets.
On Sunday, Millsaps outshot USSU, 14-4 and held a 6-3 shots-on-goal advantage by the end of the match. The Majors also dominated control offensively with a 12-2 margin in corner kicks.

Alden Romano, sophomore
Christian Lopez, freshmen
Carson Dwyer,
Zachary Diamond, and
Reid Brenner and all recorded a shot on goal. Romano fired three attempts at frame, while Brennar, Dykes, and Lopez tallied two tries each.
Steinwand was active early making stops in the 12th, 26th and 30th minutes. Millsaps fired early and often in the opening stanza collecting nine attempts alone.
The second half saw the Majors control a 5-1 attempt advantage, with the last attempt coming from Lopez in the 85th minute, who fired his attempt high.
Both teams finished with a 0-0 stalemate on Sunday. Millsaps will return to action and host Senior Day, beginning at 3 p.m. on Saturday against LeTourneau University. Festivities will begin pregame and live stats will be provided along with the live broadcast at FloSports.com
