Redshirt Senior Season (2021): SAA All-Conference Honorable Mention … Merkle appeared in 33 games and made 32 starts … He tallied 22 hits, 15 runs, and eight RBIs. He was fifth on the team in walks (10) and stolen bases (three) … Merkle also touted a .253 batting average and a .938 fielding percentage.

Redshirt Junior Season (2020): Named to the SAA Academic Honor Roll... Merkle played in 13 games and made five starts for the Majors in a season that was shortened due to the CoVID-19 pandemic.

Redshirt Sophomore Season (2019): He appeared in 31 games and made 18 starts for the Majors... He totaled 12 hits and a .194 batting average... He finished the season with two doubles, one triple and two RBIs.

Redshirt Freshman Season (2018): Named to the SAA Academic Honor Roll... Merkle played in 17 games for the Majors as a critical, late-game defensive replacement in the outfield and a pinch-runner. 

Freshman Season (2017): In his first season of collegiate baseball he saw limited action, making an appearance in six games for the Majors.

Prior to Millsaps: 3x baseball letterwinner. He also lettered in track & field, cross country, football, swimming and bowling at Ridgeland High School (Ridgeland, Mississippi)... He earned Second Team All-State and First Team All-District honors throughout his career... Member of the 'All-A' Honor Roll and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).

Personal: Majoring in Accounting with a Minor in Economics... He is a member of the Dean's List... Active on campus with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA)... He also works as an Elseworks Business Analyst working with Midtown businesses around Jackson to help improve and revitalize the area.
