2008: Appeared in 27 games on the season … went 3-for-13 for a .231 batting average … scored nine runs and had three RBIs … hit first collegiate home run against Illinois Wesleyan on March 18 … also had six putouts and one assist in the outfield.

2004-07: Played football for head coaches David Saunders and Mike DuBose all four seasons ... three-time SCAC football champions ... tallied 152 career tackles, 18.0 tackles-for-loss, nine pass breakups, five INTs, 4.5 sacks and recovered three fumbles in 35 career games played at linebacker ... 2007 First Team All-SCAC and 2006 Second Team All-SCAC ... a two-time SCAC Player of the Week selection as well as a D3football.com National Team of the Week honoree once ... has also played baseball every season.

High School: A three-year starter and four-year letterman at Vancleave High School under head coach Hayden Cox ... received the Bulldog Award for the Top Male Student-Athlete ... All-South State Honorable Mention... All-District ... received the Coach’s Award... a two-year participant in the Whitney Bank South MS All-Star Classic.

Personal: Son of Ron and Annette Wheat ... obtained undergraduate degree in spring of 2008, majoring in business administration while minoring in psychology ... will graduate this spring with a Master of Business Administration ... plans to begin working toward (Ed.D.) in sports management with a concentration in sports marketing in the fall.
