Eric "E.V" Vaughn joined the Millsaps coaching staff in 2018 on the men's side and rejoined the women's program in fall 2023.
E.V. is a passionate coach with over 27 years of coaching experience, having coached in over 900 games; one who has coached male and female basketball teams at the middle school, high school, college, and professional levels.
He was most recently was a member of Jackson State University Men’s basketball staff as an assistant coach for the 2017-18 season.
His coaching career also includes the following: assistant coach with the CBA’s Fort Wayne Fury and the CBA’s Gary Steelheads and head coach of the South Side High School Girls’ Varsity basketball team. He is the former head coach of the ABA Carolina Cougars and the TRBL’s Cary Invasion. He is the former head coach of Keystone School’s Boys’ Varsity basketball team. He is the former head coach of Dillard Middle School. He is the former head coach of Goldsboro High School JV team. He is the founder of Blessed IJN Sports AAU program that he coached from 1998-2008, where coached the likes of current NBA stars Mason and Miles Plumlee and the late James Hardy, a former NFL wide receiver.
E. V. attended elementary and junior high school in Clarksdale, Mississippi and moved to Saginaw, Michigan to attend high school. He was an All-State basketball player at Saginaw Valley Lutheran High School. He attended Michigan Christian College, a small college located in Rochester, Michigan, where he led the basketball team to a NSCAA national championship. He was named MVP and 1st Team All-American. He went on to attend I.P.F.W. where he holds the single season record for free throw percentage. E.V. holds a bachelor’s degree in general studies from Indiana University.
E.V. currently resides in Clinton, MS. with his wife Francis, and has 5 children: Jerald (27), Feryn (James) (27), Mary (23), Eliana (13) and Eric Jr. (10).
