Shelby Wilbanks joined the Millsaps women’s basketball program as assistant coach in summer 2022.
She spent the 2021-22 season as an assistant at NCAA DIII Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Ga. Prior to that in 2020-21, Wilbanks was the volunteer assistant coach at Northeast Mississippi Community College – an NJCAA Division I program.
She also interned at Northeast during the summer of 2019 and was an event site coordinator and referee in North Charleston, S.C. in 2017 and 2018.
A native of Falkner, Miss., Wilbanks played two seasons at NCAA DI Charleston Southern University. Her senior season saw her average 10.2 points per game, 5.1 rebounds per game and generate 24 steals, 30 assists and 12 blocks.
Wilbanks also played two seasons at Northeast (2015-17) where she was named to the program’s Women’s Basketball All-Decade Team. She ranks third in school history for defensive rebounds (154) and is tied for second with five blocks and third with a 33-point performance. Wilbanks also played professionally in 2019 for Bender Baskets Grünberg in Germany's Damen Basketball Bundesliga.
She obtained her Associate of Arts from Northeast (2017) and Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Strength and Conditioning from Charleston Southern (2019).
