Richard Benge was named the assistant women’s soccer coach at Millsaps in August 2022.

The Majors improved defensively during the 2022 season, conceding the fewest goals (24) and tallying the most shutouts (five) since 2009.

Benge spent the previous two seasons as an assistant soccer coach for the Ravenna (OH) girls’ soccer program, where he worked primarily with the goalkeepers. In 2021, helped lead the team to the most shutouts (seven) since 2009 and won its first OHSAA Tournament game since 2011.

Prior to Ravenna, Benge spent the 2019 season at Hiram College as a volunteer assistant women’s soccer coach. He served as the team’s video coordinator, tagging film and preparing scouting reports for upcoming opponents.

Benge has also spent time as a camp goalkeeper coach for the Marietta College women’s soccer program and as a district staff coach for the Ohio Soccer Association Olympic Development Program (ODP).

Benge was a member of the men’s soccer program at Thiel College before transferring to Youngstown State University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in exercise science. He then earned a master’s degree in sports administration at Kent State University.
