Box Score Birmingham, Ala. - The Millsaps Majors Football Team dropped their final game of the year on Saturday to the Birmingham-Southern Panthers, 35-21. The loss drops Millsaps to 4-6, their first losing season since 2005.
The Majors got things started early on as they struck first since to an 11 play, 80 yard drive ending a touchdown pass from junior quarterback Garrett Pinciotti to freshman Byron Johnson to put the Majors ahead 7-0.
Millsaps responded on their next drive in the first quarter as Pinciotti found junior Jason O'Rear from 10 yards out to increase the lead to 14-0.
The Panthers responded in the second quarter with a long run form SCAC leading rusher Shawn Morris to cut the deficit in half.
The teams went into half with Millsaps leading 14-7. No team could find any points in the third quarter.
Birmingham-Southern started the fourth quarter with a touchdown run as that started a 28 point fourth quarter for the Panthers. Millsaps added a touchdown in the last minute as Pinciotti found Theriot from 16 yards out, but it was too little too late as the Panthers defeated the Majors 35-21.
Pinciotti finished the day 31-for-53 for 242 yards and three touchdowns along with three interceptions. Junior Kegan Joplin led all receivers with nine receptions for 63 yards.
Defensively, junior Jeb White led the team with 16 tackles while sophomore Alex Stewart led the team with 2.5 sacks. His brother, sophomore Joiner Stewart picked up an interception.
The Majors season comes to a close at they finish 4-6 overall and 3-3 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. Millsaps will move on to the Southern Athletic Association next season.
