TYLER, Texas - The Millsaps Majors Volleyball Team competed on the Final Day of the UT-Tyler Invitational. The Majors split the day, defeating UT-Tyler on their home court, but then took their first loss of the season to Mary Hardin Baylor later that afternoon.

The Majors started things against UT-Tyler in the mid-morning on the home court of the Patriots. Millsaps stormed out in Set One to take a 25-20 and then responded with a 25-19 win. The Patriots tried to respond with a win in the final set, but the Majors pulled out a close victory, taking it 27-25 to notch their sixth with of the season.

Senior Kasey Laird continued her fantastic weekend with nine kills, 15 digs, and seven block assists in the first game. Seniors Sarah Zito and Claire Aime each added seven kills. Junior Casey Brown picked up 15 digs while senior Raven Scott picked up four block assists. 

Millsaps struggled in their second game against Mary Hardin-Baylor, dropping the match 25-20, 25-10, 25-20.

Laird again led the way with nine kills and freshman Alex Morphew added four. Scott picked up 14 digs while Brown added 12.

The Majors finish the weekend 3-1 and got two All-Tournament selections in Scott and Laird. Scott also earned the honor of Most Valuable Player for her efforts on the weekend.

Millsaps has their first Southern Athletic Association Game on Wednesday night as they welcome in Birmingham-Southern to The Hangar Dome. First serve is set for 7 p.m. and all fans and students are encouraged to wear purple.
