Box Score JACKSON- Courtney Huie and Caroline McKey headlined an efficient offense in a 3-0 sweep of the Sewanee Tigers on Saturday afternoon.
Huie and McKey each had 14 kills to lead the offense, Huie hit at an impressive 500 clip while McKey was strong as well hitting at just over 35 percent.
Huie had 10 of her 14 kills in the first two sets both 25-21 wins for the Majors. Millsaps pulled away in the first set that was tied at 19. Lexus Andrews and Huie each had a pair of kills for the Majors, who won five of the last seven points.
Andrews and Mary Wilson had hot hands in the second set as the Majors grabbed leads of 16-12 ans 22-17 en route to another 25-21 set win. Andrews set up McKey for the set-clinching point.
The Majors rode the momentum to a 25-14 third set win. Taylor Ziegler got red hot from the service line, winning six straight points to open a 12-4 lead. McKey and Andrews each had service aces and McKey again had the clinching point on a kill.
Ziegler led the offense with 30 assists, while Christina Tilton led the way with 16 digs. The Majors as a team hit an impressive 312 from the field and held the Tigers to an even 200 average. The Majors also had eight service aces, led by Andrews with three.
The Majors now sit at 13-12 overall and are 6-5 in SAA play. They will look to avenge a loss to Centre tomorrow morning at 11AM.
