HIGH FIVE

Box Score

JACKSON- The Millsaps Majors moved to 8-0 on the season with a 38-3 homecoming win over the Berry Vikings on Saturday.

The game was highlighted by Mike Barthelemy's five first half touchdown runs as the Majors took a 35-0 lead into the half.

Barthelemy closed out the day with 27 carries for 120 yards and those five first half scores. He now has 19 rushing touchdowns on the season.

Barthelemy's first score of the game came on a three-yard plunge that capped off a three-play, 55-yard drive. The big play on the drive was a Zak Thrasher slant pass to Beau Wells that went for 27 yards.

The defense made a play on the ensuing Berry drive as Zach Bell picked up a fumble from back Gavin Black at the Majors 24 yard line. A bad exchange to Black put the ball on the turf and Bell scooped it up. The SAA sack leader had five tackles, two for loss and a sack to go along with the fumble recovery.

The teams traded interceptions on the next two drives, Alex Jackson picked off a Sandon Mims pass and returned it to the Viking nine-yard line to set up the second Barthelemy score. He barreled in from one yard out on the first play of the second quarter.

Two passes from Thrasher to Zander Romano set up Barthelemy's third score, another one-yard run to make it 21-0. The Majors forced a rushed punt by the Vikings that went six yards and the Majors were set up at the Viking 30. Barthelemy did the majority of the work on the drive and went in from three yards out to make it 28-0.

After another Berry three-and-out, the Majors needed just 30 seconds to score again. A big pitch and catch to Trevor King went for 41 yards. Barthelemy rolled in from 12 yards out to cap off his monster day.

The Majors would cash in a 43-yard Beau Brady field goal to wrap up their scoring as backup quarterbacks Caleb Martin and Greg Matthews saw much of the second half action.

The Majors defense shutdown a young Berry offense, limiting them to 35 yards on the ground on 28 carries. The secondary held Viking quarterback Sandon Mims to just 12-32 passing and 129 yards and two interceptions.

The Majors now sit at 8-0 on the year and welcome in the Centre Colonels for senior day next weekend. The Saturday kick off is set for 1pm.
