Box Score DANVILLE- The Millsaps Majors dropped three tough sets to the Centre Colonels on Sunday, 25-20, 25-23, 25-21.
The Majors were undone by the Colonels' late runs in each of the three sets. In set one, the Majors erased a 20-16 Centre lead only to see the Colonels score four of the set's final five points.
In the second set, Casey Brown and Christina Tilton each had service runs to put the Majors in position to even the match at a set apiece. However, Centre won points off the serves of Caroline McKey and Taylor Ziegler to eek out the set and take a 2-0 lead.
The third set saw more of the same, another late run by the Colonels to close out a set. The Majors held a 21-20 lead only to see Centre win the set's final five points and the match.
The Majors were led on offense by Lexus Andrews and her nine kills, McKey had eight while Mary Wilson and Ziegler had 15 and 13 assists, respectfully. The defense was led by Alex Morphew and her four block assists while three Majors registered double digit digs.
The Majors now sit at 10-8 and 3-2 in SAA play. They will host the Berry Vikings on Friday night and Oglethorpe on Saturday next weekend as conference play continues. First serve is 6pm on Friday and 5pm on Saturday.
