Box Score CONWAY, AR- The Hendrix Warriors won the final three sets of a five-set thriller against the Majors on Sunday as Millsaps fell 15-13 in the deciding set.
Millsaps lost 25-21, 25-19, 22-25, 22-25, 13-15 to drop to 16-3 overall and 7-3 in conference.
Caroline McKey led the way with another double-double, recording a team-high 18 kills and 20 digs to lead the Majors. Regan Riddle recorded five of the Majors' 14 block assists to help lead a defense that forced 30 errors out of the Warriors.
The Majors led comfortably in the first set, consistently leading by four to six points after an early Ashley Zamjahn service. Zahmjahn ripped one of her three service aces during the run. McKey finished off the set with one of her 18 kills and the Majors grabbed set one.
Millsaps also led throughout the second set, grabbing a 2-0 set lead. After a Warrior rally tied the match at 15, the Majors closed the set on a 10-4 run, again behind a Zamjahn service. During the run, the Majors' defense forced three errors out of the Warriors and McKey again recorded a kill to put away the set.
Sets three and four saw back-and-forth sets go to Hendrix. The Warriors ended set three on an 8-4 run to erase an 18-17 Majors' lead to win 25-22. Hendrix scored the final five points of set four to erase a 22-20 Millsaps' lead and force a deciding set.
In the fifth, a furious Majors' rally came up short. Hendrix got the early momentum and scored eight of the first 11 points. After the side change, the Majors got aces from Mary Wilson and Lexus Andrews to cut the Warrior lead to three. Millsaps would get within two points on a couple of occasions, but no closer as the Warriors completed the comeback.
Millsaps now sits at 7-3 in the conference, a game behind Berry, Birmingham Southern and Hendrix. The Majors will travel to Centre next Saturday to take on the Colonels. First serve is set for 1pm central.
