Box Score SEWANEE, TN- Millsaps dropped the first two sets on Sunday, but rallied past the Sewanee Tigers to move to 9-3 in the SAA on Sunday.
The Majors defeated Sewanee 18-25, 25-27, 25-20, 25-23, 15-12 to get the important win on Sunday afternoon.
Courtney Huie led the offense with 18 kills against just four errors. Lexus Andrews had 17 kills and Caroline McKey 11 as three Majors were in double figures in kills. Defensively, Ashley Zamjahn led six Majors in double digits with 25 digs. Huie also added a solo block and four block assists on Sunday.
After dropping set one, the Majors found themselves in a back-and-forth battle in set two. Payton Mansell tied the set at 24 with a kill and Lexus Andrews made it 25-24 Majors with a kill of her own. But the Tigers got a key block and won the final three points of the set to win set two 27-25.
Millsaps controlled set three, holding off a mid-set charge from the Tigers. Millsaps saw their lead trimmed to 20-19 late in the set. The Majors rallied behind a Taylor Ziegler service to win five of the next six points to win set three. Millsaps opened up a six-point lead in set four behind a Presley Stoltzfus service. Sewanee trimmed the 18-12 lead to 22-20 but kills by McKey and Regan Riddle, shut the door on the comeback and forced set five.
Ashley Zamjahn won four straight key points midway through set five to give Millsaps a 7-4 lead. The Tigers would get no closer than 12-11 and Lexus Andrews closed out the match with a kill and give the Majors their 18th win of the year.
Millsaps now sits at 18-3 overall and 9-3 in the SAA. They will host the Berry Vikings on homecoming this Saturday, first serve is set for 3pm.
