MAJORS FALL AT PANTHERS

Box Score

BIRMINGHAM, AL- Millsaps dropped a tough road match at SAA co-leader Birmingham Southern on Wednesday, falling in three sets at Battle Arena.

Millsaps fell to 6-2 in SAA play after a 25-18, 25-13, 25-18 defeat at the hands of the Panthers.

Lexus Andrews led the Majors with 11 kills on the offensive end and Caroline McKey once again led the Majors with a match-high 21 digs.

The Majors came out firing on Wednesday in the pivotal conference match. It seemed that the Panthers often had the answer, consistently diving and saving well-struck balls to keep plays alive. Millsaps would rally at several points in the match, but could never get over the proverbial hump and take a set away from BSC.

That was never more evident than in the third set, where a strong start staked the Majors to an early set lead and was building momentum. BSC rallied to tie the match at 11, then proceeded to rip off eight straight points to put the third set, and the match out of reach.

Millsaps now sits at 15-2 overall and 6-2 in SAA play, a game in back of BSC, with whom they have split with on the season. The Majors continue their five-match road trip this weekend with trips to Rhodes and Hendrix on Saturday and Sunday.
