Box Score GEORGETOWN, TX- The Texas-Tyler Patriots outlasted the Millsaps Majors in four sets in Saturday's regular season finale.
Millsaps lost 25-23, 25-27, 21-25, 19-25 to finish the regular season 21-5 overall.
Caroline McKey led the Majors' offense with 16 kills and also added 16 digs on the defensive end. Courtney Huie and Lexus Andrews each had eight kills, adding to a balanced offensive attack for the Majors.
Millsaps rallied to win the first set 25-23, after trailing midway through the set. The Majors came back to tie the match at 20. Taylor Ziegler put the Majors on the doorstep on the set victory with a strong service run and Regan Riddle had a kill to make it 24-22. The Majors' defense forced a Patriot miscue and took the first set.
It would be the Patriots that rallied in set two, recovering from a Millsaps comeback that erased multiple two-score deficits to win 27-25. UT-Tyler would only trail once the rest of the match, winning in four sets.
The loss sends the Majors into the Southern Athletic Association tournament at 21-5 overall. They will head to Conway, Arkansas and Hendrix on Friday for their quarterfinal match with Oglethorpe. First serve is set for 1pm on Friday.
