JACKSON, MS- The Majors scored two special teams touchdowns but it would not be enough as the Rhodes Lynx held off the Majors 19-14 on Senior Day at Harper Davis Field. 

Rashad Sims had a 93-yard kick off return for a touchdown and Jeff Milner (pictured) took a Joe Marquez blocked punt 20 yards for a score to lead the Majors. However, it would not prove to be enough as four Major turnovers proved to be too much to overcome. 

Rhodes would score first on Saturday when Blake Box hit Nick Parinella for a 55 yard touchdown off a skinny post towards the end of the first quarter. Neither team was able to move the ball much in the first half with the Majors missing a field goal and throwing an interception in the red zone. 

The interception came right after the Majors' defense forced their first of two turnovers. Zach Bell popped the ball free from Roc Sherrill and Jared Bullock jumped on the ball at the Rhodes 25 yard line. Thrasher would be picked off two plays later by Michael Shield who stepped in front of a ball intended for Rashad Sims. It would be 7-0 Rhodes at the half. 

The teams traded punts in the third quarter with neither team able to punch the scoreboard. Rhodes wasted little time in the fourth, capping a lengthy drive with a three-yard pass to Roc Sherrill to make it 13-0. Jeff Milner would block the extra point to keep it a 13-0 game. 

The Majors moved the ball on the ensuing drive but a sack and unsportsmanlike penalty killed the drive. A fourth down rush ended the drive and gave Rhodes the ball at the Majors 40. The Majors' defense rose to the occasion and an errant snap on the ensuing punt gave Millsaps the ball at their own 45. Thrasher would be picked for the third time on the drive, one that Rhodes would flip into points. Sherill raced in from 22 yards out to make it 19-0 after the missed two-point conversion. 

Sims would house the next kick, taking it 93 yards for a score. The sophomore picked up key blocks around his own 25, cut back across the field and raced up the near sideline for the score. Rhodes would recover the onside kick but couldn't do anything with the football. After the Majors fourth pick of the game, Rhodes drive stalled as they setup to punt. Joe Marquez stormed in to block the punt at the Rhodes 20. Jeff Milner caught the block and rolled 20 yards in for the score. After Brady's extra point, Rhodes would again recover the onside kick and knelt out the clock. 

Alex Jackson led the Majors with 10 tackles on Saturday while fellow senior Trevor King caught 10 passes for 64 yards. The Majors end their 2014 campaign at 3-6 while Rhodes improved to 8-2.
