Box Score MARSHALL, TX- The Millsaps Majors could not slow down the East Texas Baptist offense on Saturday night, falling 68-15 to the Tigers at Ornelas Field.
Raphael Johnson rushed for 158 yards and a touchdown to lead the Majors but the story of the night was the Tiger offense. ETBU scored a touchdown on seven of their eight offensive possessions in the first half, none of which took more than six plays and led 47-13 at the half.
Defensively, the Majors were led by Eric Martin and Zach Bell. Martin led the way with a team high 13 tackles and caused a safety after recording a sack via intentional grounding in the Tigers' endzone. Bell recorded a half sack and blocked two extra points on special teams.
The Majors moved the ball against the Tigers and found success running the ball, rushing for nearly 300 yards on the evening. However, Millsaps struggled to find balance, passing for just 129 yards on the night in 31 attempts. They also couldn't close out drives, missing a field goal and commiting three turnovers on Saturday night.
The loss drops Millsaps to 1-2 on the season as they close out non-conference play. The Majors travel to Conway, Arkansas next Saturday in their SAA opener against Hendrix. Kick off for the Majors and Warriors is set for 1pm.
