Box Score JACKSON- The Millsaps Majors improved to 6-0 on the season with their sixth sweep of the season, a 3-0 shutout of local rival Belhaven.
Another balanced effort told the story of Friday night as Regan Riddle and Lexus Andrews led the offense with seven kills and once again, five different Majors had at least five kills. Caroline McKey, Ashley Zamjahn and Andrews all had double-digit digs as well, led by McKey's 12.
The Majors took control of the first set about midway through. Zamjahn had an ace as part of a five-point run that broke the set open in favor of Millsaps. Taylor Zeigler and Riddle each had kills on McKey's service to stretch the lead to nine as the Majors happily traded points the rest of the set to close it out.
Seniors Zeigler and McKey led the Majors in set two, keying a 17-3 run that turned an 8-6 affair to a 25-9 rout. Zeigler served out the final eight points of the set while McKey had a pair of kills and assists during the run.
The Blazers would not go out easily in a back-and-forth third set. Belhaven rallied from a three-point deficit on a pair of occasions and eventually knotted the set at 20. However the Majors forced the Blazers into a pair of mistakes down the stretch and kills by Peyton Mansell and Andrews closed out the match for Millsaps.
The Majors are back at it again tomorrow in day two of the Millsaps Invitational. The first match pits the Majors against the Huntingdon Hawks, first serve is at 11AM.
