Box Score JACKSON- The Millsaps Majors improved to 7-0 on the season with their seventh sweep of the season, defeating Huntingdon 25-16, 25-17, 25-19.
Caroline McKey and Lexus Andrews led the offensive charge again, each posting nine kills. Andrews also led the defense with a team-high 18 digs as the Majors held the Hawks to a .008 hitting percentage.
Millsaps broke open the first set winning, nine of 10 points midway through the set. Kills by McKey and Andrews as well as solid defense spurred the run on Taylor Zeigler's service. Huntingdon would not get within seven points that set after the run as the Majors coasted to a first set win.
The Majors closed out the second set on a 11-3 run to win 25-17. Courtney Huie and Regan Riddle led the charge during the latter stages of the set, each with two kills to help the cause.
The third set was much like the first, the Majors used a big mid-set run to break open what was a back-and-forth affair. Ashley Zamjahn got hot from the service line and won six straight points to give Millsaps a nine-point lead. Sierra Burris had a couple of kills during the run as the Majors held off a late charge from the Hawks to win 25-19 and sweep the match.
The win moves Millsaps to 7-0 on the season. They look to cap off a sweep of the Millsaps Invitational at 3pm today against rival Mississippi College.
