JACKSON- THe Millsaps Majors moved to 8-0 with another three set sweep, defeating the rival Mississippi College Choctaws 25-21, 25-14, 25-14. 

Caroline McKey (pictured) led the offense with a team-high 12 kills along with 12 digs in a double-double effort. Lexus Andrews and Ashley Zamjahn had nine and seven kills each, respectfully. Zamjahn led the defense with 16 digs while Andrews and Peyton Mansell chipped in a pair of block assists.

A 14-4 Major run towards the beginning of the match set the tone for the afternoon, turning the first set into a 16-6 Millsaps advantage. A McKey service ace and kills by Regan Riddle and Mansell helped to key the rally. MC had a run of their own to climb to within one at 20-19. Andrews and McKey each had late kills to stop the rally and give the Majors the first set. 

The Majors used a Taylor Zeigler service run to grab a decisive second set lead. The senior led the team with 17 assists and had a five-point service run to make it a 14-7 Major lead. Service runs by Mary Wilson and Zamjahn sparked another run to close out the second set, Millsaps won 10 of the final 15 points to win the second set 25-14. 

The third set was a copy of the second, as Andrews and McKey had service runs that opened up a big lead for Millsaps. Millsaps won eight of the first 10 points of the set and withstood an MC rally to win 10 of the final 14 points and put away the match in three sets. 

At 4-0, the Majors claimed the Millsaps Invitational title. Lexus Andrews was named the Millsaps Invitational MVP while Caroline McKey and Ashley Zamjahn were named to the Millsaps Invitational All-Tournament team. The team was voted on by the four coaches in the Invitational. 

The win moves the Majors to 8-0 on the season, each in shutout fashion. They will open conference play on September 17th when Birmingham Southern comes into the Hangar Dome.
