Box Score Mount Berry, GA – The Majors volleyball team fell in their first game of the weekend to Berry earlier today by a score of 3-0.
Today's loss drops Millsaps to 12-13 on the year as they began a three game weekend road trip to Georgia. The Majors faced Berry earlier today and will travel to Oglethorpe tomorrow to close out the regular season of conference play. The Vikings, who currently hold the third overall seed in the SAA, earned a win in straight sets to end the Majors two-game winning streak.
Berry began today's contest with an early first set lead of 12-4. The Vikings never looked back to earn a 25-16 first set win. Berry's early momentum continued into the second set as they held a 23-9 lead. After closing out the second game, Berry earned a third set win to complete the straight set victory.
Senior
Courtney Huie led the Majors in kills on the day with eight while
Lena Barrett totaled six.
Mary Wilson led in digs with eight while
Presley Stoltzfus,
Ashley Zamjahn and
Lexus Andrews all totaled seven digs apiece.
Saturday's conference road loss drops the Majors to 6-7 in SAA play, while the Vikings improve to 10-3. Saturday's games also featured a nonconference matchup for the Majors.
Junior College opponent, Gulf Coast Community College traveled to Mount Berry to face Berry and Millsaps as well. The Majors fell in four sets (3-1) to Gulf Coast CC in the nonconference matchup.
Lena Barrett led the Majors in kills with nine while
Ashley Zamjahn finished close behind with eight.
Presley Stoltzfus lead in digs with 12 while Zamjahn totaled 10 for the contest.
The Majors will look to regroup tomorrow for a final regular season conference road game at Oglethorpe. The Majors will travel to Atlanta, Georgia to face the Stormy Petrels tomorrow, Oct. 25th at 1:00 pm (CDT).
