Majors Sweep Oglethorpe in SAA Road Finale

Box Score Atlanta, GA – The Majors completed regular season conference play with a win against Oglethorpe in straight sets earlier today.

The trip to Atlanta caps off the weekend of play for the Majors as they improve to 13-13 (7-7) with today's win.  The Majors earned a complete, team win today with three consecutive sets of balanced play.  In team kill totals, Millsaps stated 13, 14 and 13 for each individual set.  Today's win gives the Majors a winning record for the month of Oct. as they closed out regular season conference play earlier today.

In the first set, the Majors never trailed en route to a convincing 25-17 victory.  Lexus Andrews and Ashley Zamjahn closed out the game with two late kills to clinch the first set win for the Majors.  Overall, Zamjahn again led the Majors in digs with 17 while Andrews led in kills with 10.

The intense, back and forth second set featured multiple lead changes and five different ties.  Trailing 15-13, the Majors rallied by scoring the next five points to retake the lead.  Holding a 22-17 second set lead, the Majors never looked back to earn a 25-19 win.

Millsaps trailed only twice in the third set as they held off another late rally from Oglethorpe to win the match.  The Majors totaled 13 kills and 42 team assists to win the final set 25-20.

Overall, today's game completed another solid road victory for the Majors to close out regular season conference play.  The Majors finish the regular season with a conference record of 7-7.  The solid month of Oct. play has also secured Millsaps a top four seed for the conference tournament.

The Southern Athletic Association postseason tournament will be held Nov. 6th-8th.  Specific game times will be released early this week, however, the Majors opponent for the tournament is set.  Millsaps will face five seed Centre College for the first round of the conference tournament Nov. 6th.  In the meantime, the Majors will travel for a nonconference tournament this weekend in preparation for the conference postseason play.

Next up for Millsaps is another trip to Atlanta, Georgia for a two-day tournament this weekend at Emory.  The Majors will face Bridgewater (Virginia) for their first game of the tournament this Friday, Oct. 30th at 12:30 pm CDT.
