Box Score Atlanta, GA – The Millsaps Volleyball team began their three-game weekend road trip with a victory over Bridgewater (Va.) earlier today.
The weekend tournament held at Emory in Atlanta, Georgia will close out the regular season for the Majors. Millsaps won in straight sets for the second consecutive game by defeating Bridgewater 3-0. The win improves the Majors to 14-13 on the year and begins the weekend with positive momentum.
Millsaps won the back and forth first set 25-20 as the Majors totaled 15 kills in the first game. The Majors recorded a dominant 20 kills in the second set, which gave Millsaps a 2-0 lead. The third set featured multiple ties, but the Majors were able to take control late in the game. Holding a commanding 20-14 lead, the Majors closed out the set to win the match 3-0.
Overall,
Regan Riddle led the way in kill totals with 13.
Lexus Andrews and
Courtney Huie were close behind with 12 and 11.
Lena Barrett and
Lexus Andrews both stated two aces as
Mary Wilson had 28 assists.
Ashley Zamjahn led the way in digs with 22.
Today's win gives the Majors positive moementum heading into tomorrow's double-header against Emory and Randolph-Macon.
