Box Score Conway, AR – The Millsaps volleyball team advanced to the semifinals of the SAA Tournament earlier today by defeating Centre 3-1.
The Majors, who secured the fourth seed in regular season play, defeated the fifth seeded Colonels in the quarterfinals of the SAA Tournament. The conference tournament, hosted by Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas, began today as the Majors advanced to the semifinals in four sets.
Millsaps only trailed once in the first two sets to win 25-12 and 25-18. The Majors totaled 15 kills in the first set and 18 in the second to hold an early 2-0 lead. The Colonels, however, answered with a rally in the third set.
Trailing 2-0, Centre began the third set with a 10-5 lead. Millsaps eventually tied the game 23-23, however, the Colonels scored the next two points to complete a match saving third set win.
Holding a 2-1 lead, the Majors removed all doubt for a Centre comeback by starting the fourth set with a flurry of points. Leading 19-8, the Majors never looked back to secure a quarterfinals victory.

Lexus Andrews and
Courtney Huie led the Majors in kills with 15, 13 and 12 while
Shelby Marsh led in aces with three.
Lena Barrett,
Regan Riddle and
Lexus Andrews led in blocks with two each while
Mary Wilson led in assists with 28.
Ashley Zamjahn, who was recently named SAA Defensive Player of the Year, led in digs with 28.
The Majors will face top seed and tournament host Hendrix in the semifinals. Next up for Millsaps is a conference rematch against Hendrix tomorrow, Nov. 7th at noon in Conway, Arkansas.
