Conway, AR – The Majors volleyball team fell in their semifinal matchup against top seeded Hendrix earlier today.
The Warriors secured a 3-0 victory, which ended the Majors season in the semifinals of the SAA postseason tournament. Millsaps fought hard to mount a comeback after falling behind 2-0. The Warriors, however, outlasted the comeback effort to advance to the conference finals.
Lena Barrett,
Lexus Andrews and
Olivia Kleyer led the Majors in kills with eight, seven and six each.
Lena Barrett totaled two aces while
Presley Stoltzfus also stated an ace on the day.
Regan Riddle led in blocks with four while
Shelby Marsh and
Mary Wilson led in assists with 16 and 14.
Ashley Zamjahn totaled 20 digs as the Hendrix Warriors held off a third set comeback effort by the Majors.
Trailing 23-20, the Majors came from behind to tie the game 25-25. Sara Dyslin and the Warriors scored the final two points to secure the Hendrix win.
This season, however, featured a number of great accomplishments for the Millsaps volleyball team. In addition to earning First Team All-Conference honors,
Ashley Zamjahn was also named SAA Defensive Player of the Year.
Lexus Andrews earned All-Conference Second Team Honors as well while
Olivia Kleyer was named All-Conference Honorable Mention.
The Majors will look to build off of this year's success as they complete the season as one of the top four teams in the conference. Saturday's loss, while tough, doesn't change the fact that Millsaps volleyball has a great deal to look forward to in the years to come.
