JACKSON, MS – The Majors volleyball team started off the Millsaps Invite with an impressive two victories.

Going 2-0 in today's tournament play, the Majors young team looked to be in midseason form by winning both sets 3-0.

The Majors were excited to start the weekend play at home, as their first five games of the season were all played on the road.  In front of an eager and intense home crowd, the Majors volleyball team put on an impressive showing.

The first game of the day was played against another local Jackson school in Mississippi College.  The Choctaws of Mississippi College were looking for their first win of the season as the Majors sought to win their home opener.

All three sets were heavily contested as the Majors won the first two 25-20.  The back-and-forth games provided a number of impressive plays, as both teams combined for 42 total kills in the opening sets.

The third set featured a similar back-and-forth game as the Majors pulled out a final victory 25-19.  The third-set win closed out the match as the Majors won in straight sets.

Courtney Huie led the Majors in kills with 11, as Shelby Grace Mays led Mississippi College in kills with six.

The Majors second match of the day took place against Centenary College of Louisiana.

Riding the momentum from the victory earlier in the day, the Majors were able to achieve a convincing win in straight sets.  Lexus Andrews led Millsaps in kills with 12, as the Majors won 25-14, 25-13 and 25-12.

The pair of home wins improves the Majors to a season record of 3-4.  Tomorrow will be the final day of the Millsaps Invite, as the Majors take on UT Tyler and Belhaven University.

The day will begin with an 11:00 am start against UT Tyler, followed by a 5:00 pm start against local rival Belhaven.
