Box Score JACKSON, MS – The Majors women's soccer team continued their recent solid weekend play by earning an emphatic victory over Alcorn State earlier today.
Senior Lindy Robichaux scored two goals in the first half, as three other Majors scored en route to a convincing 5-0 win.
Today's win marks the second straight victory for the Majors, as they improve to a record of 2-3-1. Alcorn State, who is in the middle of an eight game road trip to start the season, falls to 0-4.
Robichaux got the scoring started for the Majors with a goal launched from 30 yards out. Her second goal of the day (third on the season) closed out the first half scoring as the Majors led 2-0.
In the second half, Millsaps continued to impress as three Majors scored for the first time this season.
Freshman Grayston Barron started the second half scoring just seven minutes in, her first of the season. Sophomore Molly Ambrose also found the back of the net for the first time this year as did Senior Malorie Proa on a corner kick from sophomore Maria Welch.
The Majors never trailed as they stated 2015 single-game records for goals with five and total shots with 34.
The Majors finish the latest series of home games with a record of 2-0-1. They will look to use that momentum this weekend as they travel to the Rhodes Tournament.
The tournament will feature two road games against Ohio Wesleyan and Transylvania.
The weekend's games start up on Sept. 18th against Ohio Wesleyan at 2:00 pm.
