Box Score Conway, AR – The Majors volleyball team fell in their second road game of the weekend earlier today.
After a straight set win in Memphis against Rhodes College, the Majors traveled to Conway, Arkansas for an 11 am start against Hendrix. Hendrix, who improved to 11-6 with today's victory, won in straight sets to defeat Millsaps 3-0.
After trailing 2-0 early in the first set, the Warriors scored the next 10 points to lead 10-2. From there Hendrix never looked back as they won the first set 25-14.
The Majors stormed back with their own flurry of points in the second set by leading 7-2. Hendrix, however, again answered by scoring the next seven points to lead 10-7. The back-and-forth second set featured several lead changes and ties.
Eventually, both teams became tied at 24-24. Following a service ace and attack error Hendrix won the next two points, thus winning the intense second set 26-24.
The Warriors only trailed once in the third set, but again answered by leading 17-10. The Majors fought hard by attempting a comeback down 24-18. They scored the next three points, but could not hold off Hendrix who won 25-21.
Mc Rogers and Lauren Petrisin led the Warriors in kills with 11 and 10 apiece while Felicia Beeman led in digs with 22. Additionally, Sara Dyslin and Lauren Petrisin totaled for 16 blocking assists.
For Millsaps, Lexus Andrews led in kills with nine while Ashley Zamjahn led in digs with 14.
Sunday's game closes out the month of Sept. play for the Majors. as they will look to get back in the win column next weekend, Oct. 3rd.
Next weekend's matchup will feature another conference game and will continue a five-game road trip for the Majors.
Next up for Millsaps volleyball is an SAA matchup at Centre for a noon start this Saturday Oct. 3rd.
