Belton, TX – The Majors volleyball team fell in the opening games of a tournament held at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor earlier today.

The two games were the first for Millsaps in a two-day tournament where they faced UT-Dallas and Southwestern Texas.

Millsaps faced off against UT-Dallas in the first game of the day as they lost three sets to none.  UT-Dallas won the first set of the match 25-14 as the Majors tried to mount a comeback in the second, but fell short 25-22.  UT-Dallas then closed out the first game by winning the final set 25-13.

Courtney Huie led the Majors in kills for the opening game with eight while Michelle Toro led UT-Dallas in kills with 13.  The win for UT-Dallas improved them to a 2-1 record on the year.

The Majors next opponent of the day was against the Pirates of Southwestern University.  After a 7-7 tie in the first set of the match, Southwestern gained momentum by going on a 7-0 run.  The Pirates then closed out the set 11-2 for a 25-9 win.

Opening the second set with a 19-9 lead, the Pirates never looked back as they defeated the Majors 3-0.

The two losses drop the Majors to a record of 1-2 on the young season.  Millsaps will look to get their first win of the tournament tomorrow as they face off against Hardin-Simmons University at 10 am and East Texas Baptist University at 2:30 pm.
