Box Score JACKSON, Miss. – The Millsaps men's soccer team defeat conference rival Hendrix College 5-2 at home on Friday, Sept. 30.
The Majors played very well against the Warriors, dominating the first half with four goals. Offensively, Steven Chrobok led the way with two goals, one on a penalty kick. Alex Bourland also chipped in a goal on a penalty kick and got on the board with an assist. Jan Bergk and Gabriel Ryce scored goals as well. Tore Schütt also contributed an assist.
The Majors started really quick, but had lapses of lost focus on two set pieces for Hendrix. Coach Steve Voltz feels like the team created a lot of opportunities but need to be much more efficient in front of the goal going forward. Coach Voltz praised the play of Chrobok, Nico Roth, and Alex Bourland, all players he believed played well. Hendrix was a very tough opponent who played with a lot of energy in fight, making things difficult for the Majors in their winning effort.
The Majors will be back in action Friday, Oct. 7 in another conference bout against Sewanee. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. away at Sewanee, TN.
