JACKSON, Miss. – The Millsaps women's soccer team return home after three straight road games to face Berry College(6-5-1, 1-2-1) on Friday, Oct. 14 and Oglethorpe University(1-8, 0-4) on Sunday, Oct. 16. The Majors women's soccer team will honor their seniors on Sunday afternoon as well in their final home game of their Millsaps career.
The Majors(1-11-1), are still seeking their first conference win this weekend against two teams ranked towards the bottom of the SAA standings.
Despite the losses, the Majors have looked much better as of late, with Molly Ambrose being aggressive and a sparkplug for the offense and goalkeeper Olivia Gattuso working hard to prevent goals on defense. Ambrose has been the team leader on offense by far, leading with five goals, 38 shots and 18 shots on goal. Gattuso has 114 saves on the season after facing over 20 shots per game.
Berry, 1-1-1 in their last three matches, comes into this weekend hoping to climb up the standings in the SAA. They are led in goals by Maggie Midkiff who has reached the net seven times this year, and have tried three different starters at goalkeeper this year, with Melissa Sanchez starting the most games for them.
Oglethorpe, losers of four straight, will come into this weekend also looking for their first win in conference play. They are led by Kayla Trice with three goals on offense and have rotated three starters as goalkeeper throughout the year, with Tabitha Floyd starting the most games in the net for Oglethorpe.
