Box Score JACKSON, Miss. -- The Millsaps College women's soccer team lost to Oglethorpe University 2-1 in a highly competitive, hard fought game on Sunday.
The Majors honored their seniors,
Ellie Dennis and
Mary Kathryn Lawrence, as well as
Rebecca Falls before the match today. Each senior played hard in their last game and attempted at least one shot in their last outing as a Major.
The Majors(1-13-1) were close the whole game, outplaying Oglethorpe with more shots and corner kicks than them despite them not resulting in goals. The early goals by Kayla Trice of Oglethorpe put the Majors in a tough spot but they rallied to score a goal at the very end of the first half. The Majors also had another shot on goal that hit the post and was possibly a centimeter away from being a goal, and a judgement call from the referees ruled it not a goal.

The Majors put on a strong showing on defense, with goalkeeper Olivia Gattuso making seven saves and stopping many crosses throughout the game. Molly Ambrose, the Majors lead goal scorer for the year once again got on the board, scoring another goal while attempting four shots on goal as well. Emily Gager, Riley Fobare, Grayston Barron, Mary Kathryn Lawrence, Ellie Dennis, Rebecca Falls, and Kayleigh Sims also all got on the board with shots in this match.
The Majors will be lacing them up for the next time on a road game at Birmingham-Southern next weekend, Oct. 22!
