JACKSON, Miss. --The Millsaps Men's Soccer team (10-7, 5-2) will host Sewanee: The University of the South (7-9-2, 2-5) in the quarterfinals of the SAA Conference Tournament.
Millsaps finished the season as the 2nd place team in the SAA conference, with a 5-2 in conference record behind only Oglethorpe University. Sewanee finished the season as the 7th place team in the SAA.
This game comes following a close, 2OT win over Birmingham-Southern last week to close out the regular season for the Majors. Matt Crooker sealed the win with the game winning goal in a hard fought victory highlighted by the defense's stinginess. The game before featured a dominating performance by the Majors over non-conference foe Louisiana College where four different Majors scored a goal.
Millsaps will be led into the playoffs by goalkeeper Johnathan Huebbe and the stifling defense. Huebbe has 41 saves on 121 shots faced along with two shutouts, including one in the regular season finale. On offense, the Majors will be led by Nico Roth and Alex Bourland, the two leaders in points on the team with 15. Both have six goals and three assists. Behind them is Tore Schütt with four goals and four assists. Behind Schütt is Steven Chrobok and Matt Crooker who have four goals and one assist and three goals with three assists respectively.
Kick off will be on Saturday at Harper Davis Field at 2 p.m. For the playoffs, there will be free pizza as well as other fun things at the game this weekend!
